Implications for Congestive Heart Failure

چکیده
The interaction of the renin-angiotensin system and the sympathetic nervous system in patients with congestive heart failure is not well understood. We tested the hypothesis that angiotensinconverting enzyme inhibitors can resensitize the fJ-adrenergic receptor system. Guinea pigs were given captopril, isoproterenol, or both for 2 weeks. At death, cardiac sarcolemmal and light vesicle fractions and intact mononuclear leukocytes were prepared. Captopril treatment led to an up-regulation of cardiac t3lbut not mononuclear leukocyte f32-adrenergic receptors and an increase in isoproterenol-stimulated adenylate cyclase activity in the heart. Animals treated with isoproterenol developed cardiac hypertrophy, had increased plasma norepinephrine levels, and had a decreased number and responsiveness of both cardiac and mononuclear leukocyte P-adrenergic receptors. Concomitant treatment with captopril attenuated alterations of heart weight, plasma norepinephrine levels, and cardiac ,B-receptor density and function. In contrast to its cardiac effects, captopril treatment did not diminish the down-regulation of mononuclear leukocyte f2-adrenergic receptors by isoproterenol. Our data suggest that captopril may resensitize the cardiac but not the mononuclear leukocyte 3-adrenergic receptor-adenylate cyclase system after long-term catecholamine exposure. Impact of Socio-Economic Status on the Hospital Readmission of Congestive Heart Failure Patients: A Prospective Cohort Study
Background The aim of this study was to examine the impacts of multiple indicators of Socio-economic Status (SES) on Congestive Heart Failure (CHF) related readmission. Methods A prospective study consisting of 315 patients without the history of admission due to CHF was carried out in Tehran during 2010 and 2011. They were classified into quartiles based on their SES applying Principal Compo...

Introduction: Reduced quality of life in cardiac patients and their frequent hospitalizations in the coronary care units is regarded as a main challenge for such patients. Therefore, this study aimed to explore the effectiveness of healthy lifestyle promotion intervention on quality of life in patients with congestive heart failure via cognitive-behavioral procedure. Methods: In this randomi...
متن کاملPrecipitating factors of congestive heart failure in admitted patients of Fatemieh Hospital in Semnan, Iran
Introduction: Congestive Heart Failure (CHF) is a pathophysiologic state in which an abnormality of cardiac function is responsible for the failure of the heart to pump blood at a commensurate rate with the requirements of the metabolizing tissues and/or allows it to do so only from an abnormally elevated diastolic volume. In this study, the prevalence of precipitating factors of CHF in Semna...

During a period of four years between June, IS, 1988 to June, IS, 1992 one hundred and fourteen patients with congestive heart failure (CHF) were admitted to the pediatric department of Taleghani General Hospital. During the above period, 192 patients with heart disease were hospitalized at this department and CHF was the cause of admission in 59.4% of them. Congenital heart disease (CHO) w...
متن کاملVein of Galen Aneurysmal Malformation and High-output Cardiac Failure in a Newborn
Background: Vein of Galen aneurysm (VGA) is the most common form of symptomatic cerebrovascular malformation in neonates. It develops in a fetus in the first trimester of pregnancy due to unknown reasons, but it is likely to have a genetic etiology. The prognosis of VGA is usually poor, particularly in newborns with heart failure due to high-flow intracerebral shunt. Surgery and endovascular em...
متن کاملA New Approach to Detect Congestive Heart Failure Using Symbolic Dynamics Analysis of Electrocardiogram Signal
The aim of this study is to show that the measures derived from Electrocardiogram (ECG) signals many a time perform better than the same measures obtained from heart rate (HR) signals. A comparison was made to investigate how far the nonlinear symbolic dynamics approach helps to characterize the nonlinear properties of ECG signals and HR signals, and thereby discriminate between normal and cong...
